What is a guard tour system?

A guard tour system proves that security guards patrolled the places they were meant to, when they were meant to. Guards scan checkpoints placed around a site, each scan is recorded with the time and location, and supervisors are alerted when a scheduled round is missed or late. ForceVera does this with QR codes and the guard mobile app.

Why it matters

Guard tour system: what your security company gets

Proof your clients can see

Every checkpoint scan is stored with the guard, time and location, and rolls into the daily report your client receives.

Missed rounds flagged at once

If a tour is not completed in its time window, dispatchers and supervisors get an alert while there is still time to act.

No extra hardware

Print the QR codes ForceVera creates and stick them up. Guards scan with the same phone app they use to clock in.

How it works

Guard tour system in ForceVera: how it works

  1. Add checkpoints to a site

Name each checkpoint, place it on the site and print its QR code.

  2. Build tours

Group checkpoints into tours with the days and time windows they must be completed in, including overnight rounds.

  3. Guards scan as they patrol

The guard app shows the tours due on the shift; each scan is time-stamped and located.

  4. Review and report

Completed, late and missed tours appear on the dashboard, in alerts and in the client's daily report.

FAQ

Guard tour system: questions, answered

Do I need special guard tour hardware?

No. ForceVera uses QR codes that you print and place at each checkpoint. Guards scan them with the ForceVera app on their phone, so there are no wands, buttons or readers to buy.

How do I know if a guard missed a patrol?

Each tour has a time window. If the checkpoints are not scanned in that window, ForceVera marks the tour as missed and alerts your dispatchers and supervisors.

Can clients see patrol records?

Yes. Patrol activity is included in the daily report emailed to clients, and on Pro and Enterprise clients can also see it in their own portal.

Does it work for night shifts?

Yes. Tours can run across midnight, and scans are tied to the guard's active shift.

Can a guard fake a scan?

Scans only count while the guard is clocked in on a geofenced shift, and each scan records the phone's location, which makes scanning from somewhere else easy to spot.

Your next shift could be verified.
