Man-down alarm explained
Man-down is a feature of lone worker devices and apps, usually alongside an SOS or panic button the worker presses deliberately. Man-down covers the case where the worker cannot press anything, for example after a fall or an assault.
Detection uses the device's motion sensors, so settings matter: too sensitive and it raises false alarms, too relaxed and it misses real ones. Dedicated devices worn on a lanyard or belt are usually more reliable than a phone in a pocket or bag.
An alarm is only as good as the response. Before relying on man-down, agree who receives the alarm, how quickly they act and how they find the worker. In the UK, lone worker services are often monitored to the BS 8484 standard.
How ForceVera handles it
ForceVera does not have a man-down alarm, fall detection or an SOS button. Its idle alert tells dispatchers when an on-duty guard has not moved for a while, which may prompt a check-in call, but it is not a safety alarm and is not monitored around the clock.
If your officers need man-down protection, use a dedicated lone worker device or service.
