What is proof of patrol?

Evidence that the contracted patrols were actually completed.

Proof of patrol: definition

Proof of patrol is evidence that a security officer actually completed the patrols a client is paying for: which areas were checked, at what times and by whom. It usually comes from checkpoint scans in a guard tour system, recorded automatically with the time and location, rather than from handwritten patrol logs alone.

Proof of patrol explained

Clients rarely see their security officers at work, especially at night. Proof of patrol replaces trust with records, and it settles disputes: when something is stolen, the company can show when the area was last checked.

Handwritten patrol logs are proof of a sort, but they can be filled in after the fact. Electronic checkpoints are harder to fake because the scan time and location are recorded by the system, not written by the officer.

The best proof of patrol also shows what was missed. A report where every round is always complete is less believable than one that shows late rounds and the reasons for them.

How ForceVera handles it

In ForceVera, guards scan QR checkpoints with the guard app; each scan is stored with the guard, time and location and only counts while the guard is clocked in on a geofenced shift. Completed, late and missed tours appear on the dashboard and in the client's daily report, and on Pro and Enterprise in the client portal.

Your next shift could be verified.
