Security guard management software for Nevada security companies

Schedule guards across every Nevada site, prove they were on post, record patrols and incidents, and keep copies of their PILB work card on file, in one platform.

What software do Nevada security companies use to manage guards?

Nevada security companies use security guard management software to schedule guards, verify they were on site, record patrols and incidents, and report to clients. ForceVera does this in one platform: shifts published to guards' phones, a geofenced time clock, QR patrol checkpoints, incident and daily reports, dispatch and a client portal. Guards can upload a photo of their PILB work card so a copy sits on their profile.

Licensing in Nevada

Who licenses security guards in Nevada

Regulator: Nevada Private Investigators Licensing Board (PILB); guards who work for a PILB licensee need a PILB work card.

Work card (employee registration)PILB says anyone applying to work for a licensed company needs a work card. After the first background check, PILB emails a provisional document. The guard may then work for a licensee and must carry it at all times while working. The permanent card follows after fingerprint results, which can take 30 to 90 days.
Eligibility and fingerprintsApplicants must be at least 18, a U.S. citizen or lawfully entitled to remain and work in the U.S., and of good moral character. A conviction for a felony, a crime of moral turpitude, or illegal use or possession of a dangerous weapon disqualifies an applicant. Applications need fingerprints, a passport-size photo and two forms of ID.
Exam and renewalApplicants who will use the work card for security must pass the PILB work card exam with a score of 100 percent. The registration and card expire 5 years after issue. Renewal needs a new application, a photo, fingerprints and a fee. Armed guards also take a course with 8 classroom hours and at least 5 range hours, and must requalify every 6 months.

Overtime for security guards in Nevada

Nevada has its own daily overtime rule. Under NRS 608.018, an employer must pay 1.5 times the regular rate when an employee who earns less than 1.5 times the Nevada minimum wage works more than 40 hours in a scheduled week or more than 8 hours in a workday. A workday is a period of 24 consecutive hours that begins when the employee starts work (NRS 608.0126). The daily rule does not apply when the employee and employer mutually agree to a schedule of four 10-hour days in a week. Employees who earn at least 1.5 times the minimum wage get overtime only after 40 hours in a scheduled week. The law lists exceptions, including bona fide executive, administrative and professional employees, employees under a collective bargaining agreement that provides otherwise, and businesses with gross sales under $250,000 a year.
